The intent and purpose of this design is to effectively communicate the appropriate associative and physical characteristic of the chosen animal in a art form of using various shapes. This animal being a baby Malayan Tapir.
First I started by gathering researching, understanding my animal, both the physical characteristics and the associative ones as well.
I started rough sketching poses and emotions I wanted my animal to express and act, at this time I was still debating whether I should stick with the baby or attempt an adult Tapir.
Here I simplified my sketches, trying to quickly able to draw the bear bones and identity marks of the animal, finally committing to the baby animal.
Next, I started sketching where I would need shapes and lines to convey the animal's physical attributes in a playful pose.
Then, I attempted different iterations, focusing on the eyes and fur pattern mostly.
Finally, I finalized my best iteration and cleaned up any remaining edges or difficult looking design portions of the mark to display the final product.
